Faustus is a play based on the one of the world's most famous myths, thought to have its earliest roots in the New Testament story of the magician Simon Magus (Acts 8:9-24).

Doctor Faustus is a scholar living in Wittenberg, Germany. Feeling that he has reached the ends of all traditional studies, he decides to pursue magic and perform magic incantations. Faustus pursues unholy magic and makes a pact with the Devil, ultimately leading to his demise.
