CASTING CALL - TEECHERS

Bruiser Theatre Company requires 2 female and 1 male actor to join their team for their 2022 “Bruiser In A Box” Autumn production of Teechers by John Godber, under the direction of Artistic Director, Lisa May. The production will tour to schools and colleges throughout the province with accompanying educational workshops and resources.

Synopsis

Fast-moving, inventive and highly entertaining, Teechers is John Godber’s brilliant take on life at a comprehensive school. Written in the mid-1980s, it lays bare the contrasting educational options available in two very different schools by telling the story of a new drama teacher, Jeff Nixon.

Three gobby school leavers – Salty, Hobby and Gail – perform their hilarious end-of-term play, sketching the new drama teacher’s progress through unruly classes, cynical colleagues and obstructive caretakers. Jeff Nixon ignites the kids’ passion for drama, winning them over during two terms of otherwise unrelenting battles against a failing system, disillusioned teachers and disaffected children. Teechers is a modern classic with something vital to say about education for the ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’.
