Bruiser Theatre Company and The Lyric Theatre were to present George Orwell's chillingly relevant 1984 in April 2020. However, with only 1 day of rehearsals, we made the difficult decision to cancel the production due to the Coronavirus, for the safety of our team and audiences. However, we hope we can bring this thrilling production to audiences in the not to distant future. 1984, was ever a show so apt to the times?

The hero and protagonist Joseph K. is the Chief Clerk of a bank. Ambitious, shrewd, more competent than kind, he is on the fast track to success until he is arrested one morning for no reason. There begins his slide into desperation as he tries to grapple with an all-powerful Court and an invisible Law. Based on Franz Kafka’s novel and adapted by Stephen Berkoff, Bruiser teamed with Queen’s University to deliver this professional development production.
