Stephen's Profile

Stephen, Company Manager. As well as being Bruiser’s Company and Production Manager, Stephen Beggs is one third of ‘Those Who Can't’ comedy performance group co-writing and performing all material for stage and radio. He is the MC for 'Pigeon & Plum's Victorian Music Hall Cabaret Nights' at The Empire in Belfast. He was formerly the Residency Co-ordinator for Replay Productions and is now one of their 'Theatre Squad' team. He regularly carries out drama workshops for adults and young people in schools and community groups, such as Include Youth, Open Arts, Community Arts Forum and New Belfast Community Arts Initiative.

Theatre direction credits include "Spaced Out" for Belfast Community Circus, "Eleemosynary" for Skewiff Theatre Company, "The Girl Who Swallowed Her Tongue" with Block One, Harold Pinter's "The Birthday Party" and Keith Waterhouse's "Billy Liar" for The Osborne Players, "The Importance Of Being Earnest", “The Merchant of Venice” and "Living Together" with South Bank, "Testaments" for The Tyrone Guthrie Society at QUB and "The Hobbit", the largest student production ever staged at The University of Ulster.

Acting credits include Mr. Collins in Replay's Pick & Mix version of "Pride and Prejudice", Fintan in Red Lemon's "Flesh Dense", Candide in Bruiser's Pick & Mix performance of "Candide", Dr. Rance in Rawlife's "What The Butler Saw", Crumpet in the "Santaland Diaries" with C21 Theatre Company, Nolly in "Chasing The Whale's Tale" with Sticky Fingers, The Corinthian in "Collectors" with Trouble Joe, Ernesto Roma in “The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui” and John Proctor in "The Crucible", both at The Lyric Theatre, Belfast, Gar Private in "Philadelphia, Here I Come!" at The Group Theatre, Belfast/Ardhowen Theatre, Enniskillen and Carver in Peter Barnes’ “Nobody Here But Us Chickens” with Rawlife Theatre Company. He is also a member of Playback Belfast, Northern Ireland's only Playback Theatre Company. Other work includes projects with The BEAT Initiative on several Belfast Carnivals and with Young At Art during Festival times.
