Academy students will work closely with Artistic Director, Lisa May of Bruiser Theatre Company, to explore the highly stylised, ensemble nature of her work. Assistant Director Ross Anderson will provide high quality "Estill" voice training (the only qualified "Estill" vocal coach in Northern Ireland). Practical workshops will include a rounded skill based enhancement programme, focusing on movement, vocal range, text analysis and devising.

Practical advice on audition techniques, creating a winning CV and the opportunity of working with other prominent theatre directors / casting agents is also very attractive to young adults trying to break into the business.

This 2 week Academy will result in a performance showcase at Queen's University. This will be for an invited audience of Artistic Directors, casting agents and acting agencies, with the hope that the students will find an agent, or gain employment from this event.

Entrance to this prestigious Academy is through audition only.

Graduate Academy Audition Criteria:

  • Prepare two monologues, one traditional and one modern, of your choice. Each monologue must be no longer than 3 minutes.
  • Prepare 16 bars of any song, and sing it unaccompanied.
  • You will be given the opportunity to showcase any additional skills, such as movement skills or playing a musical instrument. This is optional.
  • Your audition will last approximately 15 minutes.

To obtain an audition slot, please complete the audition registration form and attach a current CV. Please return this form and CV by email to info@bruisertheatrecompany.com by Friday 16th April 2010.
