The Canterbury Tales

The Canterbury Tales production image.

Chaucer is served with a vaudevillian spin, a wicked sense of fun and the taste of a bar room brawl. These timeless tales of adventure are adapted into modern English by Martin Riley, and were performed by the renowned, travelling players, Bruiser Theatre Company!

Cork Flyering. Cork Flyering. Cork Flyering. Cork Flyering. Cork Flyering. Cork Flyering.

Four musical actors created all the characters, sound and action in this wonderful performance. This motley crew presented a highly visual adaptation with live music, of Chaucer's bawdy chronicle of journeying pilgrims on their way to Canterbury.

Directed by Lisa May, Bruiser’s new piece offered four of the most famous, or infamous, tales: 'The Pardoner's Tale', ‘The Nun’s Priest’s Tale, 'The Wife of Bath' and 'The Miller's Tale'. A high-energy production that delighted audiences across the country.

Critics Review

"...the talented cast work their socks off in capturing
Chaucer's salty humour and searching sub-texts....the
audience laughed heartily from beginning to end."
   The Irish Times

"This is a furiously funny and high-octane production.
Ladies and Gentlemen, make your own pilgrimage to
wherever this play is showing. Once there, sit tight,
fasten your seatbelts and wait for the magic and the
   mayhem."
   Culture Northern Ireland

"Director Lisa May has gathered together a lively and
enthusiastic cast...There's nothing that can't be put
to song, or accompanied with a flourish (ta da!)"
   The Belfast Telegraph
