Candide![]() This show has something for everyone – comedy, action, romance and a mysterious old woman with only one buttock! ‘Candide’ opens a colourful storybook for audiences as our eponymous hero sets off on a world-wide tour in search of his sweetheart and the best of all possible worlds, sailing, battling and fortune-finding from country to country.
Critics Review
"Candide has Lisa May’s trademark stamped all over it. It’s sharp, snappy and very physical...a comic whirlwind tour around the world. It’s a fine piece of ensemble acting, which requires pin-point timing from the cast, as well as enormous quantities of energy." Grania McFadden, Belfast Telegraph
"...a wonder of ensemble acting and comic timing...it is no coincidence that director Lisa May is at the helm, keeping the production taut...[Patrick O’Reilly’s] adaptation of ‘Candide’ is his best work to date." David Lewis, Culture Northern Ireland
"Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed ‘Candide’ last night, great performances and a great production. Unfortunately it's becoming rather a rarity to see this kind of imaginatively staged theatre any more – the energy and ingenuity of productions such as your ‘Candide’….just to congratulate you all on a really excellent and memorable evening of theatre. And the audience loved it." Touring Venue Marketing Manager after performance
"Absolutely excellent play. Brought it to life. Hilarious!" Old Museum Arts Centre Comments Book
"[Bruiser is] by far the best touring theatre company in Northern Ireland. No one can touch them." Touring Venue Manager after performance
"This is the third Bruiser production I’ve seen and, as usual, what an energetic performance! The choreography always amazes me. Love, love loved it!" Audience Feedback Form, Droichead Arts Centre Drogheda
