So, this week, the rehearsals for The Nose kicked off! After a read through of the script and Stuart Marshall, our Set Designer, presenting his design, Lisa and her cast of two, Patrick J. O'Reilly and Mitchel Rose, got stuck in.
Every other day, we hope to be posting here and on Facebook about the process of the rehearsals, so please keep checking so you can keep up to date! Head over to our Present Show page for the tour dates and contacts to venues to book your tickets.
In the mean time, here is a little comment on the show from Patrick J. O'Reilly, who also adapted the script from the short story by Nikolai Gogol:
" Two journalists, a deadline for a story, a corrupt politician and a missing nose……
Face it, we love a good scandal. Whether it’s a quick gossip over coffee about who slept with who, or the dirty revelations of a Celebrity or a politician in the headlines, a scandal always raises an eyebrow or two.
Gogol ‘s short story of the Nose wonderfully captures the public downfall of a man in Government by removing his nose entirely from his face; forcing the corrupt politician to face ridicule and shame as his nose runs around creating havoc in the city. Completely absurd and manic in style, The Nose is a satirical masterpiece that is just as relevant today as it was back in 1836.
The nose is a dark physical comedy, completely bonkers with of course, an element of truth. "
