Bruiser’s innovative and highly physical style allows the fierce energy and raw tension of the play to soar. Using minimum set for maximum impact, the cast of six evoke the haunting beauty of Lorca’s language leaving audiences on a knife-edge.

A Spanish community steeped in a bitter and violent clan war celebrate the marriage of two young people who represent a fragile hope for the future. The bridegroom’s mother is filled with mourning at the thought of losing her son on what should be the happiest day of his life. But blood stirs as the wedding day dawns and nothing is quite as it seems…

The play has been skilfully translated and adapted from the original by Queen’s University professor, David Johnston, who has captured the lyrical intensity of Lorca’s language through speech and song. This is a haunting piece of drama about reputation and retribution, which has echoes in today’s conflict-torn world.
