Arts Academy Campaign
Our 2011 production of 'Othello' is the latest example of the talent associated with Bruiser. Since 1997 we have been producing high quality theatre and developing an extensive education programme across Northern Ireland and beyond. To build this incredible talent pool, each year we run the Bruiser Arts Academy Summer Schools - a fantastic training scheme for Young People aged 14-21. Will you join our campaign to raise funds to support this unique initiative? Each year young hopefuls audition throughout the province to become Bruiser students. They need talent, enthusiasm and motivation. The successful candidates complete a rigorous rehearsal period, learning a variety of physical theatre and vocal techniques under the excellent tuition of Lisa May and Ross Anderson. These budding thespians get to grips with the visually exciting, rhythmic and choreographic elements for which Bruiser is renowned, leading to a spectacular final showcase performance at the Belfast Waterfront Studio. The Bruiser Arts Academy Summer Schools provide professional theatre development for young people, offering ataste of life as professional actors. They also offer excellent personal development skills, allowing participants to express themselves creatively. Being a Bruiser actor is not easy, as our exhausted students can testify, but our young 'Bruiserites' rise to the challenge superbly. If you would like to donate to the Bruiser Arts Academy Campaign, forms are available at the programme stand on Bruiser performance nights or can be downloaded here. You can also request a form by phoning the Bruiser office on 028 9024 3731.Bruiser Theatre Company is a registered charity and without the generous support of individuals, companies and trusts, it could not continue to produce such high quality performance, education and training work throughout Northern Ireland and beyond. We hope you will join us in our aim to ensure that Bruiser continues to make a huge contribution to the cultural life of Northern Ireland and beyond and to the lives of talented young actors.
